Creekside Buddies

Our Mission

At Creekside Buddies, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe, supported, and confident online. For many seniors, technology can feel overwhelming with full of unfamiliar terms, confusing websites, and dangerous scams. These challenges don’t just create frustration; they lead to isolation. Our mission is to change that through human connection. We pair high school students with seniors in their community to build trust, share knowledge, and create a safer digital experience. Instead of relying on complicated tools, we focus on patient, one-on-one support google support forms, guiding seniors step by step to recognize scams, protect their personal information, and feel in control online.  We also provide safety presentations and provide a simple handbook for residents to follow. Beyond safety, Creekside Buddies is about empowerment.

The process,

We started by partnering with a single local retirement center, Atria, where we paired 10 trained students with 25 residents to provide personalized digital safety support and hands-on training. In the early stages, we processed more than 100 scam-related complaints each week, which revealed the urgency of the problem. Through targeted workshops, step-by-step guides, and one-on-one coaching, residents quickly grew more confident in recognizing and avoiding scams. As a result, complaints dropped by 90%, reflecting a real shift in how seniors approached online safety.  Additionally, we gave monthly meetings to make sure seniors were updated on the latest scams.
